Farm

The farm La Badiola - Caio Alto is an old family property, where great-grandparents and grandparents came by carriages to visit their fields and controlled the work of farmers.
The farm La Badiola - Caio Alto is still owner-operated today by the biologist Paola Giannotti (degree at the University of Florence) and his son Alessandro, an agricultural expert (diploma at Istituto “Angelo Vegni” - Capezzine - Cortona, AR).
They cultivate cereals, grape vines, olives under the rules on ICEA certified organic farming and PDO specifications.
Then there are the so-called minor productions whose countryside is very rich, such as dog rose, with its berries rich in vitamin C, which are an ancient remedy against deseases caused by the cold weather, or dandelion with its sweet yellow flowers or scented broom.
Beautiful is our cultivation of lavender (lavandula officinalis) recently planted, where our bees (apis mellifera ligustica) collect nectar for one of the most desirable single-floral honeys.
Lavender essence and honey help to fight bronchitis, asthma, flu, tension, depression, palpitations, dizziness, vomiting.
Moreover lavender is aphrodisiac, too. In ancient times, it was a gift for bride on wedding day and according to old beliefs, it exorcises negative influences. It is a lucky charm.
Then the essential lavender oil helps horse to fight asthma, anxiety and together with other natural essences, repels mosquitoes, pests, horse flies and other insects.
